Salth\u00fas Artist Retreat in cooperation with Nes Artist Residency in Skagastr\u00f6nd<\/p>\n

Do you need time out to find inspiration and work on new ideas? Have you always wanted to visit Iceland? Do you want to see the Northern Lights? The Salth\u00fas offers you an opportunity to combine these and more, during an Artist Retreat in the Salh\u00fas Guesthouse. The town of Skagastr\u00f6nd is a fishing village in Northwest Iceland, where fisheries and trade has long been the main livelihood. The town is gaining popularity as an artist colony, with Nes Artist Residency at the forefront of that change.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Salth\u00fas guesthouse in town of Skagastr\u00f6nd has been in partnership with Nes Artist Residency since 2018. The Salth\u00fas was built in 1950 by Skagstrendingur, a local fisheries company, and served various purposes for the fishing industry through the years. The house was completely renovated in 2017, and turned into the Salth\u00fas Guesthouse.<\/p>\n

We invite artist to retreats, typically lasting two to four weeks, with a possibility of longer stays, with dates typically lasting from the 1st-15th, and 16th- 30th of each month. The Salth\u00fas offers spacious private rooms, with en-suite bathrooms, unlimited Wifi, and a well equipped shared kitchen and dining area. In Skagastr\u00f6nd you get a unique chance of immersing yourself, once one’s “soul” understands that one can hardly do anything but calm down, enjoy the landscape and reflect\u2026The Salthouse is a good place to stay. The newly furnished rooms have good beds and a work desk, and the two spacious common kitchens are well-equipped, so you have good opportunities to cook yourself or just meet with the other residents around the tables.<\/p>\n

The entire experience was nothing short of magical for me in that it produced new roots and a sense of being (in a new) home. Skagastrond itself is a mixture of a peaceful and yet pleasantly lively community… Everything was new to me \u2013 and yet, I felt so much \u201cat home.\u201d A good amount of credit for this very positive experience derives from the place where I actually resided (Salthus Guesthouse)… The siting of the Guesthouse could not have been better \u2013 overlooking the ocean, next to hills laden with historical significance, walking distance to town and to the artist studios, etc. I can hardly wait to return\u2026.<\/p>\n
